A residential energy audit is a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation of the energy status in a home.
The measurement and documentation of the energy-relevant parts of the structure, as well as the testing of the energy-consuming appliances, is followed by independent advice on how to improve the energy efficiency of your home.
An audit takes 3 to 4 hours, uses state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, follows the Building Performance Institute (BPI) protocols, and produces a findings and recommendations report.
Residential energy audits answer these
questions:
- How much energy was consumed in the last 12
months?
- Is the house well insulated?
- Is the structure properly sealed?
- Should the windows be improved to be more energy efficient, or replaced?
- Are the combustion systems (furnace and water heater) operating efficiently?
- Which appliances consume the most electricity?
- Are the trees around the house helping or hurting energy
use?
- How efficient is the home's lighting?
